Attention High School Seniors!
Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation (SCSF)
Acclaimed rapper/entrepreneur/music mogul, Shawn Carter, better known as Jay-Z, provides scholarship opportunities to underserved students through his Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation (SCSF). Specifically, this scholarship program extends grants ranging from $1,500 to $2,500 to eligible students. These grants may be used to cover expenses such as books, lab fees, travel, and select costs of living.
To meet the eligibility requirements for these grants, students must:
- · Be U.S. citizens;
- · Be high school seniors;
- · Be in receipt of their GED diploma;
- · Be vocational or trade school students;
- · Be undergraduate college students;
- · Be 25 years old or younger; and
- · Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
Additionally, one of the hallmarks of the SCSF is that it attracts candidates from diverse and unconventional backgrounds. Specifically, this program targets students that exhibit an overwhelming desire to pursue higher education, in spite of obstacles and setbacks such as teen pregnancy, former incarceration, interrupted schooling, and homelessness.
